Philly Voices

Fall 2023 - 11.458 Civic Tech Prototyping Final Project - Philadelphia, PA - Collaborator: Yabework Abebe Kifetew

Crowd Sourced City is a civic technology prototyping class which this year focused on designing tools for public advocacy around environmental equity in Philadelphia. My project, Philly Voices, emerged out of a community need for personal storytelling and archiving of lived experiences in the neighborhood. The project went through several stages from initial wireframing, multiple rounds of feedback (including on the ground in Philly), web implementation and design all the way to user beta testing. Furthermore, a sustainability and marketing plan was crafted to examine the longevity of our site. At the class end, Philly Voices, along with 5 other web tool prototypes were presented to members of the Philly community and the client organization PREACT (Planning for Resilience and Equity through Accessible Community Technology) who was sponsoring the efforts.
