Renewable Energy Siting Opposition

Undergraduate Research 2020 - 2021 - Professor Larry Susskind

Although renewable energy sources like wind, solar, and hydro are becoming cheaper and increasingly being seen as part of reducing the global greenhouse gas emissions, renewable energy projects are still facing considerable pushback in the United States for various economic, social, political, and environmental reasons. In this project, we aim to build an open source database of renewable energy siting conflicts documenting key details including relevant parties, reasons for concern, and the projects’ roles in helping states meet their renewable portfolio standards.
