Shell Circle

11.329 Fall 2022 - Advanced Urban Design Skills - Collaborators: Ana Letelier, Emma Heneine, Austin C. Davis

Advanced Urban Design skills is a 7-week introductory course focusing on developing design skills, exploring open space creation, and place based observation of existing conditions to propose new opportunities. This module focused on redeveloping a mixed use site in Cambridgeport and introduced 3D modelling, standard building typologies, and working under zoning constraints. Planning and ideating on Shell Circle was my first experience with hands on urban design and I really enjoyed the iterative team-based process of creating and illustrating a proposed space in the surrounding community. This class helped me further solidify my interest in creating sustainable buildings and planning. My contribution included conceptual design and programming of the final site proposal, learning Rhino and creating the main 3D model and performing land use and zoning calculations to present our final proposal.
